Professional accredited EPC Assessments for North Staffordshire

Efficient, comprehensive and reassuring Energy Performance Certification for your property. Whether you’re a home owner, landlord, buyer or tenant, Rilams can provide you with friendly and informative advice, with an industry accredited ‘Elmhurst Energy’ certificate.

EPC Assessments are a legal requirement for most properties, but they also provide significant practical and financial benefits. The primary benefit is that it gives you a clear, independent blueprint of your building’s energy efficiency along with an actionable roadmap to lower your bills.

Key Benefits of an EPC

  • Lower Energy Bills

Identifies inefficiencies and outlines cost-effective upgrades (like loft insulation or LED lighting) to reduce overall energy consumption.

  • Higher Property Value

Properties with improved, higher ratings often command a sale-price or rental premium (averaging 4% to 6%) compared to lower-rated equivalents.

  • Regulatory Compliance

  • Fulfills the legal requirement needed when marketing a domestic or commercial property for sale or rent in the UK.

  • Future-Proofing Rentals

  • Helps landlords meet minimum energy efficiency standards—protecting the legal right to let properties ahead of upcoming efficiency deadlines.

  • Reduced Carbon Footprint

  • Pinpoints measures that lower CO2 emissions, supporting global sustainability and net-zero targets.

  • Better Tenant Retention

  • Warmer, more efficient homes suffer fewer issues with condensation or mould, leading to fewer void periods and happier occupants.

About

Hi I’m Sally, the founder of Rilams.

Alongside being an EPC Assessor, I am a Mum of three children (the business name an acronym of their names!). After a long career in corporate legal and IT systems, it was time for a change. I had always envisaged being an Architect - but being a 16 year old female in the 1990’s, this wasn’t something that I was encouraged to do! My passion for buildings never faded though, and alongside this my love of nature and kindness towards the environment grew.

Having predominantly worked within the engineering and construction industry, I was endlessly intrigued as to how buildings played an integral role in creating healthy and happy environments. The geek in me loves the ‘data’ behind it too!

In 2024 I enrolled on a course studying an MSc in Environmental Sustainability and Green Technology, and from there I progressed to qualify as an Domestic EPC Assessor (with a future goal of also qualifying in Retrofit!). It’s humble beginnings - but I am proud to now be serving the community, and our natural world, providing energy performance information to create a healthy future.

I take pride in my work, and look forward to hopefully meeting you soon for your EPC requirements!
